Maruti Suzuki Ertiga based 6-seater model coming to Nexa showrooms

Leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is planning to introduce a new model based on the current generation Ertiga MPV. The new model is likely to retail through NEXA, the brand’s premium sales network. According to a media report, the MPV is slated to debut in August here in India.

The test mules of the car have already been spotted, around Pune, and the new Ertiga based MPV is likely to feature a large grille with plenty of chrome inserts which integrates with the bumper to form a large vertical air intake. The MPV is likely to feature LED headlight and tail light units, higher than usual ground clearance, and cross-over like body cladding on the sides that run the full length of the car. The MPV is likely to share some body panels from the current-generation Ertiga and it may have a similar silhouette.

The interiors of the MPV are likely to feature a six-seat layout with captain seats in the second row and a seat bench in the third row with the space to fit two passengers. Interior components like the dashboard and steering wheel are likely to be shared from the Ertiga and the car may get an all-black interior finish. The new model is also expected to get the latest generation SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with integrated AppleCarPlay and Android Auto.

In the engine department, the new MPV is likely to feature the latest 1.5-litre petrol motor that is employed on the current Ertiga and Ciaz. The engine in its current form has a maximum displacement of 1462cc with Smart Hybrid technology that develops 103.25 HP of power and 138 Nm of torque. The engine is likely to come with only a 5-speed gearbox in the initial stages and may get a 4-speed torque converter in the future. The new car is likely to debut with a BSVI updated engine. The new 94 BHP, 1.5L new diesel motor is also expected on this 6-seater Ertiga to please the MUV buyers.

Where the new car will be placed in the brand’s line-up remains to be seen.
