Maruti Suzuki Dzire sales cross 25 lakh milestone in India

Maruti Suzuki has announced a new sales milestone. The Dzire has become the highest-selling sedan in India with cumulative sales of over 25 lakh units. Further, the sedan is the segment leader in its class with a market share of 50 percent in the sub 4m sedan category.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire growth over the years

Maruti first introduced the Dire back in 2008. The first 1 lakh unit sales mark was achieved in FY 2009-2010. In FY 2012-2013, the 5 lakh mark was achieved. Meanwhile, sales had doubled by FY 2015-2016 and by the 2000s, Maruti had already sold 20 lakh copies of the Dzire.

The Dire comes with new turn indicator integrated auto foldable ORVMs with key sync function, LED daytime running lights, LED projector headlamps with three-dimensional inserts, fog lamps with chrome accents on the housing, diamond-cut two-tone 15-inch alloy wheels, LED combination tail lamp, high mounted LED stop light and more.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes powered by a BS6 emissions-compliant next-generation Dual Jet, Dual VTVT 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 89 BHP of power and 113 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AGS (Automated Manual Transmission). The Dzire comes with a segment-first auto-idle start/stop function and a company claimed best in the segment mileage of 23.26 km/l in manual transmission and 24.12 km/l in AGS (Automated Manual).

A CNG variant is also offered. In CNG mode, the engine develops 76 BHP and a peak torque of 98.5 Nm. A 5-speed manual gearbox is paired with the CNG engine.

Safety Kit on the Dzire

In terms of safety, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes with bigger size brakes on both the front and rear armed with an anti-lock braking system and electronic brake-force distribution system, dual airbags, pre-tensioner and force limiter seatbelts and ISOFIX child restraint anchorage system. The 2020 Dzire is built around the fifth-generation HEARTECT platform that complies with frontal-offset, side-impact and pedestrian safety norms. The Dzire also features a hill-hold function and electronic stability programme.
