Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sales going down since 6 months

Written by Kanad Kalasur

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has been on sale for a long time now. A few years back the Japanese carmaker updated the car and is currently being sold via the Nexa outlets. However, ever since the diesel option was discontinued, the sales numbers of the sedan have been dwindling. Now, looking at the past six months, the flagship sedan of Maruti is selling in just 3 digit numbers.

Sales numbers of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in India

For the past 6 months, we can note that Ciaz sales have been reducing. In February 2023, Maruti sold just 792 units, while the previous 5 months numbers stand at 1,000, 1,154, 1,554, 1,884 and 1,359. These sales figures are from the month of January 2023 to September 2022 in reverse order.

This means, the buyers are now preferring others body types. At these price points, customers want something like the Grand Vitara, Brezza or Ertiga. Grand Vitara dispatches stood at 9,183 units while the Brezza sales came in at 15,787 units last month. Ertiga numbers were down at 6,472, but this has been reported due to the chip shortage.

Maruti Nexa Edition

Maruti recently launched the Nexa range of cars in a new ‘Pearl Midnight Black’.  Maruti is calling these all-black models as the Nexa Black Edition. Ciaz is also a part of this, so customers will now be able to get an additional colour offering. Apart from this, the Indian carmaker has also launched an accessory package as part of its 40th Anniversary celebrations. The price of the kit is set at INR 39,900 for the Ciaz.
