Maruti Suzuki has announced significant updates to its popular Celerio hatchback. The carmaker has made six airbags standard across all variants, enhancing passenger safety. However, this comes with a price hike of up to INR 32,500 for the Celerio.
The updated Celerio now starts at INR 5.64 lakh and goes up to INR 7.37 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-end ZXi+ variant sees the highest increase, while the entry-level LXi MT and ZXi MT variants also command a premium of Rs 27,500. The VXi variants have a price bump of up to INR 21,000, and the VXi CNG MT variant is now INR 16,000 costlier.

The Celerio continues to draw power from a 998cc, three-cylinder engine that produces 66 bhp and 98 Nm of peak torque when running on petrol, and 56 bhp and 82 Nm when combusting CNG. The engine is offered with 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options.
The price hike is applicable immediately, with the base LXi variant now priced at INR 5.64 lakh, up from INR 5.37 lakh. The VXi MT variant is now priced at INR 5.99 lakh, and the VXi AMT variant at INR 6.49 lakh. The ZXi MT variant is priced at Rs 6.39 lakh, while the ZXi+ MT variant costs INR 6.87 lakh. The top-end ZXi+ AMT variant now costs INR 7.37 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki has taken a commendable step towards improving safety in smaller, more affordable cars. The Celerio, which previously offered two airbags as standard, now comes equipped with six airbags across all variants. This move is expected to set a precedent for other models in Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio.
