Bad news for the ones looking to get a Maruti Suzuki. The carmaker has mentioned that it will hike the prices in April 2023 across its range. This makes it the second hike in this calendar year. Maruti Suzuki mentioned that the company continues to witness increased cost pressure. This is due to overall inflation and regulatory requirements. As of now, the company has taken the maximum effort to reduce costs. But now, the brand decided to partially offset the increase and thus has become imperative to pass on some of the impacts through a price increase.
Increasing Input Cost Increasing The Prices
Due to the current ongoing pressure on input costs, most automakers have been raising prices aggressively. Now with the new emission norms kicking in, starting next month. Thus India will introduce phase II of Bharat Stage 6 standards that gives more headaches for the automakers. They now need to equip their vehicles with a sensor to detect pollutants in real-time. So this too will incur additional expenditures.

One of the key highlights of the recently held Indian Auto Expo was Maruti’s stall with the five-door Jimny. The offroader’s bookings are currently open, and it had racked up more than 16,500 bookings by mid-February. And now with a little more than a month’s time, the Jimny has achieved a total of more than 23,500 bookings.
The India-spec Jimny will come with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. This motor makes 103PS and 134 Nm. Customers will have the option to choose from either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic gearbox. A four-wheel drivetrain (4WD) is a standard fitment across the range. With Jimny, Thar will now have a much more competitive rival. Till now it was the sole king in the segment racking significant sales. With Jimny coming in we believe, we will see some drop in the sales figure of Thar.
