Maruti Suzuki has announced that the Brezza will now come with 6 airbags as standard across all variants. This move aims to enhance the safety of the popular sub-4m SUV and attract more customers in the segment. The decision follows the recent trend of increasing safety features in SUVs.
The Brezza, which was previously available with 6 airbags only in its top-end ZXI+ variant, now offers this feature across all trims. The inclusion of 6 airbags includes front driver and passenger airbags, side airbags, and curtain airbags. This comprehensive safety package is expected to improve the vehicle’s safety ratings and make it more competitive in the market.
In addition to the 6 airbags, Maruti Suzuki has also made 3-point ELR seatbelts mandatory for all seats. The Brezza now features height adjustable seatbelts for the front occupants, a rear centre armrest with cup holders, and adjustable rear headrests. These enhancements aim to provide better comfort and safety for all passengers.
With the addition of new safety features, Maruti Suzuki has increased the prices of the Brezza by INR 15,000 for the lower variants. The prices now start at INR 8.69 lakh ex-showroom, with the top-end variants seeing a smaller price hike. The Brezza continues to offer a range of features, including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, and a single-pane sunroof.
The Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 103 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 137 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The SUV also offers a CNG variant, which produces 88 bhp and 121 Nm of torque.
