The Mahindra XUV700 has been a popular choice for SUV buyers in India. It comes in three seating configurations – 5 seater, 6-seater and a 7-seater. The base MX variant used to come only in the 5-seater configuration. However, Mahindra is changing that by introducing the 7-seat configuration in the MX trim as well. This 7-seat variant is only INR 40,000 more expensive than the 5-seater variant.
Previously, the 7-seat configuration was available starting from the higher AX3 variant which is a whopping INR 3 lakh more than the recently launched MX variant. The price of the MX 7-seater is placed at INR 15 lakh ex-showroom. This makes it one of the most affordable 7-seater SUVs. It is available with only one engine and gearbox option. Powering the MX 7-seater is the 2.2-liter diesel engine that produces 156 hp of power and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine is currently not available as of now in the MX 7-seat variant. However, there is a possibility that Mahindra will include that engine as well soon.
In terms of features, the 7-seater is identical to its 5-seat sibling. The only extra bit that the 7-seater gets are the AC vents for the third row. Common features include a 8-inch touchscreen infortainment unit, analogue instrument console with a 7-inch MID, Android Auto, central armrest (front) with storage, armrest in the second row, follow me headlamps, powered ORVMs, etc.
It will be available in five colours – Napoli Black, Midnight black, Red rage, Dazzling red, and Everest white.
The XUV700 MX 7-Seater undercuts the competition by a fair margin. The Tata Safari in the same configuration is priced at INR 16.19 lakh and the MG Hector Plus is priced at INR 17 lakh ex-showroom. This makes the MX 7-seater the most affordable 7-seat SUV in its segment.
