With the recent launch of the BMW X1, it becomes one of the most affordable products from the German carmaker. Starting at a price tag of INR 45.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the X1 is an interesting overall package. But, if you are in the market and wish to get a car more powerful than the X1 at almost half the price, the XUV700 is the perfect pick. In addition to this, XUV700 also comes with a ton of features that are missing in the BMW X1.
BMW X1 is available with 2 trim options, namely, 18d M Sport and 18i xLine. The sDrive 18d M Sport uses a 1995cc 4-cylinder diesel engine. This motor makes 148 HP and 360 Nm of torque. The car is capable of doing a 0-100 km/hr run in 8.9 seconds. The claimed fuel consumption stands at 20.37 km/l.
The sDrive 18i xLine uses a 1499cc 3-cylinder petrol engine. This motor belts out 134 HP and 230 Nm of torque. It does the 0 to 100 km/hr run in under 9.2 seconds. The claimed fuel consumption for this engine is 16.3 km/l. Both engines get a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
For the XUV700 as well, we have two engine options. This includes a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel unit. The 4-cylinder petrol motor makes 200 HP, which is a good 66 HP more than the X1’s petrol. Meanwhile, for the diesel, it comes in two states of tune. The base variants get 155 HP and the higher variants get the 185 HP engine. Both these diesel engines make more power compared to X1’s diesel at 148 HP. XUV’s engines get both a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic as options. One positive takeaway from BMW’s engines is their fuel efficiency. With lesser power, the X1’s motors are more fuel efficient.
