Mahindra’s new sub-4-metre SUV, the XUV300 has recently been spotted testing with a new BSVI compliant engine around Chennai. The XUV300 was launched in February this year and has been quite popular already and in the month of April it became the second-highest selling car in the compact-SUV segment in India. The compact-SUV will be required to conform with the new stringent BSVI emission norms that are going to roll-out from 1st of April 2020. In India, Maruti Suzuki has already launched their entry-level small hatchback Alto 800 with a BSVI compliant engine and other carmakers are expected to follow soon.
The spied car was spotted with a ‘BSVI’ decal on the fuel lid but it is still unknown if it was a petrol variant or a diesel one. By looking at spied images, it is safe to say that Mahindra is ready with a BSVI compliant engine and is expected to launch the model soon. Expect this BSVI test car to be spotted multiple times as the brand performs endurance testing for the updated engines.
The Mahindra XUV300 has many features like dual-zone air-conditioning system, heated ORVMs, dual-tone paint scheme, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lamps fog lamps, alloy wheels, a sunroof, ORVM integrated turn signal indicators, an advanced touchscreen infotainment system and more.
In terms of safety the the XUV300 gets 7-airbags including a knee airbag, disc brakes on all four wheels, ABS with EBD, traction control, hill hold control, electronic safety program (ESP), roll-over mitigation, seat belt reminder for all passengers, a 3-point seatbelt for the middle occupant in the second row and an ISOFIX on the rear seats.
The XUV300 shares its underpinnings with the SsangYong Tivoli which is a global car and has received multiple safety awards including a Grade 1 award from the KNCAP (Korean New Car Assessment Program).
The engines are completely developed and owned by Mahindra and Mahindra in India and the XUV300 is powered by two engine options, a petrol and a diesel engine and the specifications are as follows:-
The new BSVI updated XUV300 is expected to be priced slightly higher than the outgoing model which is powered by a BSIV compliant engine.
