Mahindra could be planning to delete the 7th airbag from the Mahindra XUV300 W8(O) trim. According to reports, the new Mahindra XUV300 will only come with six airbags. The brand plans to remove the knee airbag from the Mahindra XUV300. The Mahindra XUV300 will come with front, side and curtain airbags. The brand also recently removed the door ajar lamps on the front doors, say reports.
However, the XUV300 comes with safety features such as all four disc brakes, ABS + EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, impact-sensitive door locks as standard. The top-spec W8(O) retains safety features such as 3-point seatbelts for all seats, front parking sensors, reversing camera and sensors, rear-seat seatbelt reminders, and TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System). The Mahindra XUV300 also received a 5-star rating for safety at the Global NCAP. The car also received the highest combined result to date.
Powering the Mahindra XUV300 is a 1.2-litre petrol engine. The engine makes 110 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. The brand also offers a 1.5-litre diesel motor that produces 117 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque. Both the engines come with a 6-speed manual gearbox and an AMT automatic option.
The Mahindra XUV300 is one of the few vehicles in the compact SUV segment to offer the AMT gearbox on both Petrol and Diesel powertrain options. The new AutoSHIFT AMT gearbox was developed by Marelli and comes with loads of features. The gearbox comes with Auto Mode, Manual Mode, Creep Function and Kick-Down Shift. The transmission also gets Adaptive Pedal Response, Drive and Reverse Lock-Out for safety, and Creep Disable on Door Opening. Safety features also include Hill Start Assist, Electronic Stability Control etc.
The Mahindra XUV300 comes with a price tag starting at INR 7.96 lakh ex-showroom. The top-of-the-line W8(O) goes up to INR 11.83 lakh ex-showroom.
