Mahindra has officially confirmed the launch of two new electric SUVs, the XEV 9e and BE 6e, set to debut on November 26, 2024, in Chennai. This marks Mahindra’s significant push into the electric vehicle (EV) market with the introduction of two new brands under its umbrella.
The XEV 9e is a coupe-SUV designed to offer a luxurious driving experience. It features a sleek, modern exterior with vertical LED DRLs and a distinctive coupe roofline. Inside, the XEV 9e boasts a three-screen infotainment system, including a dedicated screen for the front passenger, and premium upholstery. The SUV is expected to be offered in rear-wheel-drive (RWD) form only.
The BE 6e, previously known as the BE.05, is a sporty SUV with a radical design. It features a pointed bonnet, C-shaped LED DRLs, and a slim bumper. The interior includes dual integrated screens, a squared-off steering wheel, and red design elements on the sunroof’s glass. The BE 6e will be available in both RWD and all-wheel-drive (AWD) forms.
Both SUVs are built on Mahindra’s new INGLO platform, which supports both RWD and AWD setups. The XEV 9e is expected to have a range of up to 500 kilometers on a single charge, powered by a 60 kWh or 80 kWh battery pack. The BE 6e will feature a 60 kWh battery pack, offering a range of around 450 kilometers. Both models will come with ultra-fast charging capabilities.
With the launch of the XEV 9e and BE 6e, Mahindra is making a strong entry into the electric SUV market. Mahindra aims to position the XEV 9e as a luxury SUV, targeting executives who seek space, comfort, and practicality. The BE 6e will compete with upcoming electric SUVs like the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and Maruti’s eVX. The XEV 9e will have no direct rivals at launch but will be priced competitively to attract buyers looking for a distinct road presence.
