Mahindra disrupted the SUV segment when the brand launched the XUV700 in the Indian market. The brand not only brought the SUV with an unbelievable starting price but also offered the segment-first ADAS features on higher-spec variants. The Mahindra XUV700 also boasted a number of segment-first and industry-first features enabling the brand to garner more than 65,000 bookings in just two weeks. Now the brand could be planning to drop the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), on specific variants.
Mahindra XUV700 – AX7 Smart Variant Without ADAS
According to sources, the Mahindra XUV700 will introduce a new Smart trim in the AX7 variant line. The new AX7 Smart variant is likely to come with all the comfort and convenience features of the AX7 trim. However, Mahindra is not likely to offer the ADAS – Advanced Driver Assistance System on the AX7 Smart trim. This means the AX7 Smart will not have Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, etc.
Mahindra XUV700 – AX7 Smart Features
But, reports suggest that the AX7 Smart variant will likely come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instruments cluster. The SUV will also come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Alexa integration, Panoramic Sunroof and Smart Door handles. Sources also believe that the AX7 Smart is likely to come with Auto Booster headlamps, Cruise Control, 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, 6-airbags, ABS and EBD.
Mahindra XUV700 – AX7 Smart Missed-Out Features
However, reports suggest that the AX7 Smart could miss out on various safety features. This may include Driver Drowsiness Detection, knee airbag, ESP, hill hold assist, hill descent control and an electronic parking brake. The variant is also likely to miss out on drive modes, wireless charger, and electric door handles with passive keyless entry.
We speculate that the brand will not make any mechanical changes to the XUV700. Mahindra is likely to position the new AX7 Smart variant below the AX7 Luxury variant. Information on when the brand will introduce the new variant is currently scarce, and more information will be available in the near future.
