Mahindra will launch a compact SUV with petrol engine

We all know that Mahindra is currently working on three new compact-SUVs which will be launched within the next two years. The company has also planned to refresh most of their products in the next 15 months.

Sighting the narrowing gap between petrol and diesel engines, the Indian marque now plans to add a petrol engine in the compact UV space. Adding a petrol motor will not only allow Mahindra to reach to a wider audience, but also, price the product more competitively since the entry level petrol models are usually cheaper than that of a diesel variant.

Mr. Pawan Goenka also mentioned that they will not be increasing the cost of their vehicles during the festive season, even though the input costs have gone up recently. The company is also undecided on changing the names of SsangYong products in India.

Having dominated the UV space with a diesel motor, do you think Mahindra needs to come out with a petrol motor? SUVs have been predominantly sold in a diesel avatar, will addition of a petrol motor drive in more sales?
