Mahindra has officially revealed that their new flagship SUV, codenamed as the Y400 will be launched next month, on November 19th, 2018. This SUV will slot above the XUV500 and will be a 7-seater product to rival the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Skoda Kodiaq and the likes.
Mahindra is positioning the Y400 as a luxury SUV. It is not known as of now if this new product will be christened as a ‘XUV’ variant. This full size SUV is expected to offer 4×4 driving technology as well.
Mahindra will retail the Y400 from exclusive, high-end showrooms. This will be setup within the current dealer network, hence, expect a nationwide launch of the Y400 to happen in a phased manner. Mahindra wants to deliver a premium buying and ownership experience to the potential Y400 customers, hence this extra effort.
Mahindra confirms that the Y400 will be built at the brands production facility at Chakan in Maharashtra.
Powering the SUV will be a 2.2L, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel motor producing 187 HP of power and 420 Nm of torque matched to a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
