Mahindra has announced that the waiting period for its highly anticipated Thar Roxx SUV has been extended to mid-2026 due to overwhelming demand. The five-door SUV, launched on Independence Day, has received an unprecedented response, with over 1.76 lakh orders placed within the first hour of bookings opening.
The Thar Roxx has been one of the most eagerly awaited models from Mahindra this year. The extended waiting period is a result of the high demand and the logistical challenges of ramping up production. Mahindra has started deliveries of the Thar Roxx across India, prioritizing the AX5, AX7L, and MX5 variants, which are mostly manual gearbox-equipped units.
Customers who have booked the Thar Roxx with the ivory interior are expected to receive their vehicles by early to mid-2025. However, those who have opted for the more popular mocha brown interior or higher variants of the 2WD version with automatic transmission may have to wait until mid-2025 to mid-2026. This means some customers could face a waiting period of up to 18 months.
Mahindra has assured customers that its process for sharing delivery dates is designed to be fair and reliable. The company is directly communicating tentative delivery timelines to customers, bypassing dealers until this initial contact has been made. Once customers receive official communication from Mahindra, they are advised to inform their dealers about the expected delivery timeline. Dealers will then follow up with Mahindra to ensure timely delivery.
To address the high demand, Mahindra is increasing its production capacity. By November, the company aims to produce up to 7,500 units per month, which is expected to gradually reduce the waiting period as more units are delivered. Mahindra has also stated that delivery timelines are determined by the order in which bookings are received at dealerships and the specific variant and color selected by the buyer.
