In an unprecedented event, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. announced that their newly launched Thar ROXX SUV has secured a staggering 1,76,218 bookings within the first 60 minutes of opening the order books. This remarkable achievement underscores the immense popularity and demand for the latest iteration of Mahindra’s iconic off-roader.
The Thar ROXX, launched on October 3, 2024, has captivated the Indian automotive market with its robust design, advanced features, and versatile performance capabilities. The booking window opened at 11:00 AM, and within an hour, Mahindra dealerships across the country were inundated with orders, averaging nearly 2,937 bookings per minute.
The Thar ROXX is available in both 4×2 and 4×4 versions. The 4×2 variant is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 160 BHP and 330 Nm of torque, and a 2.0-litre diesel engine delivering 150 BHP and 330 Nm. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
For off-road enthusiasts, the 4×4 variant offers a 2.2-litre diesel engine available in two power configurations: 150 BHP and 300 Nm for the 6-speed manual version, and 172 BHP and 370 Nm for the 6-speed automatic version. The 4×4 model also features Mahindra’s advanced 4XPLOR system, which includes an electronic locking differential, a low-ratio transfer case, CrawlSmart Assist for precise low-speed control, and IntelliTurn for improved maneuverability.
The Thar ROXX is competitively priced, with the 4×2 variants starting at INR 12.99 lakh and the 4×4 variants at INR 18.79 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries are set to commence on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, with Mahindra promising a phased delivery schedule to ensure a smooth and efficient process for all customers.
