Mahindra & Mahindra has revealed that it is going to increase the price across its model range. The price will now be increased by 1.9% which results in a hike of INR 4,500 to INR 40,000 depending upon the particular model and variant. Mahindra & Mahindra also asserted that the current price rise will also affect the booking of the new Thar which was done from December 1st 2020 to January 7th 2021 and for all the new bookings starting from 8th January 2021, the price at the time of delivery will be applicable.
Recently Mahindra & Mahindra had announced that the all-new Thar had received around 6,500 bookings for the month of December 2020. The SUV has been a big hit since the day it was launched in October 2020. To balance the supply and demand curve Mahindra & Mahindra had to put a hold on the bookings for a brief period in the month of November. Currently, Mahindra & Mahindra has decided to call off the AX and the side facing variants and now only two variants are available for sale; the AX option and the feature-loaded top-spec LX trim. Of all the bookings around 50% have been reported for the automatic trim which proves that the love for automatic is growing in India.
Mahindra had put on a great sales chart for the month of December 2020 selling around 16,812 passenger vehicles which resulted in a 3% YoY growth. In fact, even the Mahindra & Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector reported a very positive response for December 2020 reporting a growth of 23% as against the same time last year. The export figures are also on the rise, a total of 22,427 units in the tractor category were sold including both domestic sales and exports as compared to 17,991 units for the month of December in 2019.
Recently, Mahindra called off its joint venture with Ford under which had the plans to build cars specifically for the Indian market and export it to a similar emerging market across the globe. Mahindra is expected to launch the highly anticipated all-new XUV500 sometime in 2021 which has been spied testing on the Indian roads on multiple occasions.
