Mahindra has officially teased the upcoming cheaper variant based on their Mojo motorcycle. Currently known to us as the Mojo UT300, this will serve as a base variant for the Mojo line-up here in India. Although the launch date is unknown, expect Mahindra to take the wraps off this bike sometime in March 2018.
Although based on the Mahindra Mojo, this new base version will see quite a few omissions to bring the cost down. Previous spyshots have revealed that the Mahindra Mojo UT300 will miss out on a few features like: No LED DRL, Single exhaust pipe only, USD fork replaced by telescopic unit, raised handlebar, better seat, MRF tyres replacing the Pirelli compound, Carburetor instead of FI.
Now, mechanically, the Mahindra Mojo UT300 is expected to be powered by the same 294cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor producing 26 BHP of power and 30 Nm of torque. However, with FI being replaced by a carb, we can see some changes in the power and torque figures. Also with the change in equipment, the UT300 could actually be lighter than the Mojo, and hence, quicker off the line.
As of now, the Mahindra Mojo retails at INR 1.74 lakh (ex-showroom). This cheaper Mojo UT300 could see the price drop below INR 1.5 lakh easily. But then, will the Mojo sell any better than it does right now? Time will tell…
