Mahindra setting up 3-wheeler EV charging stations in Mumbai

In an attempt to boost EV penetration in Mumbai and its suburbs, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility (LMM) has some plans. LMM is the division of the Mahindra and Mahindra Group. LMM is looking to address one of the biggest concerns of customers – charging infrastructure.

Expanding The Charging Infrastructure

Until now, LMM has set up strategic charging vendors at various locations. The company has managed to set up several charging stations near auto rickshaw stands, auto driver home clusters and junctions. In fact, chargers have also been installed at Mahindra outlets and Mahindra Mitra Technician spots. This is where the customer can charge their 3-wheelers. All of these charging points have been positioned in strategic locations. This includes areas like Malad, Kandivali, Mira Road, Navi Mumbai, Vasai, Virar, Andheri and so on. This is an ongoing long process.

More Locations To Soon Have Charging Infrastructure

The Mahindra team, along with key stakeholders, have identified additional charging spots in and around Mumbai. And with due approvals, soon we will see more chargers in the city. Mahindra mentioned that the auto driver partners too have been notified of these upcoming additional charging points. In addition to this, Mahindra said more than 60 mechanics have been trained by LMM’s service personnel. All of them will take care of and handle Mahindra 3-wheeler EVs. Currently, Mahindra retails quite some products under the EV zone. This includes the Treo auto, Treo Zor and Zor Grand electric 3-wheelers in Mumbai and its suburbs.

Commercial Connectivity Goes Electric

Given the rising fuel prices, the commercial connectivity segment too is getting electric. With proper infrastructure in place, electric mobility is the future of commercial connectivity. In fact, a good percentage of the segment has already made their move away from traditional ICE vehicles. With proper support from the state and central government, the days are not far when we see the commercial connectivity segment being fully electric.
