Mahindra & Mahindra has recently trademarked the name Scorpio-X. This move has sparked speculation about the imminent launch of a new model in the iconic Scorpio line-up.
While the company has not yet confirmed which model will carry the ‘Scorpio X’ name, industry insiders suggest that it could be the moniker for the production-ready version of the Mahindra Global Pik Up. The Global Pik Up is a pickup truck concept based on the Mahindra Scorpio N that was showcased in 2023.
The Scorpio X is expected to bear a striking resemblance to the Scorpio N, particularly in its front design. It will likely feature a spacious loading bay area, pixelated LED taillights, and a robust bumper design. The vehicle is also anticipated to excel in safety tests such as GNCAP.
In terms of powertrain, the Scorpio X is expected to utilize an updated version of the mHawk 2.2-litre diesel engine employed in the Scorpio N. The pickup truck will also be offered with four-wheel-drive (4WD) variant.
Though there is no official confirmation of the Mahindra Scorpio X, the potential pick-up model could arrive in India by 2026. Upon arrival, it could rival models like the Isuzu V-Cross and Toyota Hilux.
While official communication and launch details remain awaited, the trademark has certainly stirred the pot for pickup truck enthusiasts in India.
