Mahindra Adventure has revealed the rally spec XUV300 called as the Super XUV300 which has been developed for rally racing and will be competing at the INRC (Indian National Rally Championship) which will commence round one from 28th June 2019 in Chennai. The Super XUV500 has won the Driver’s and Constructor’s championships consecutively in 2017 and 2018 and earlier the team dominated the tracks in rally championships since 2013.
Team Mahindra Adventure comprises of Gaurav Gill along with his Co-Driver Musa Sherif and Amittrajit Ghosh with Co-driver Ashwin Naik for the upcoming season of the INRC. Gaurav Gill will be using the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and Amittrajit Ghosh will be using the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. Both the engines have been reworked to compete with the tough rally conditions. While major components remain the same, the engines will get bigger turbochargers, race-spec exhaust systems and remapped engine management systems among a few other changes. As the season progresses the engines will receive more developments.
According to the pictures, the Super XUV300 will also receive a number of other features such as a stone guard for the engine, reinforced running board, rally-spec rims, safety roll cage, sports seats and harnesses, roof mounted air scoops to keep a positive cabin pressure, a Mahindra Adventure race livery and rally-spec tyres which are one of the most crucial components in racing and Gaurav Gill’s car will run on Jk Tyres, while Amittrajit Ghosh’s car will run on MRF Tyres.
Gaurav Gill along with his co-driver Musa Sherif have bagged together many victories in their Super XUV500 such as the 2013 INSUV Champions winner, 2014, 2017 and 2018 winner of the INRC Overall Championship and Team Mahindra Adventure are expected to be the champions again in 2019. The rally-prepped SUVs of Team Mahindra have also established their name in several other rallies such as Desert Storm, Dakshin Dare, Raid De Himalaya and Constructor’s Championships.
With the Super XUV300 entering the Rally Championships Team Mahindra Adventure is expected to again reach the top spot of the rallying world.
If will be interesting to see how this compact-SUV works in rally conditions. This Super XUV300 will be more nimble than the elder rally sibling, the Super XUV500. This should help the drivers get better times, of course along with keeping the car in perfect shape to keep crossing each rally stage. All fancy bells and whistles have been stripped down on the rally cars, and only functional parts have been kept in place or replaced with better kit.
