On the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence, Mahindra & Mahindra revealed 5 new all-electric SUVs. Underpinning all the 5 new all-electric SUVs will be Mahindra’s new modular EV platform, INGLO. In addition, Mahindra also announced two new brands for its upcoming electric SUVs – XUV and BE. Under the XUV brand, Mahindra will have the XUV.e8 and XUV.e9. Meanwhile, under the BE brand, which stands for ‘Born Electric’, Mahindra will have a total of three all-new all-electric SUVs. These are – BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09.
The first all-electric Mahindra SUVs to go on sale will be the XUV.e8 and then the XUV.e9. According to Mahindra, after the two electric XUV models, it will bring the first BE model to the market. The first one from the BE lineup to hit the market will be the smallest from the lot, the BE.05. Mahindra says the BE.05 will come six months after the XUV.e9’s launch, i.e. in October 2025.
The brand says the BE.05 is a true standout. Mahindra also says that the BE.05 is a Sports Electric Vehicle (SEV) in its truest sense. According to the company, the BE.05 draws design inspiration from racing and complimenting the design are multi-sensory experiences.
At the front, the BE.05 gets an aggressive design and C-shaped headlights. Though there is no grille, Mahindra has given it large air intakes. Furthermore, there is also an air duct on the bonnet of the BE.05. On the sides, the BE.05 gets large 5-spoke wheels, flush door handles, squared-off wheel arches and coupe-like roofline. Like the XUV.e9, the BE.05 also gets lots of body cladding finished in gloss black. Like at the front, the BE.05 gets a C-shaped LED taillight at the rear and sharp detailing for the rear bumper. Above the bumper and taillight, there is also a sharp-looking split spoiler.
The brand also revealed the dimensions for the BE.05, which gives us an idea of how compact or large it will really be. The BE.05 measures 4,370mm in length, 1,900mm in width and 1,635mm in height. The BE.05’s wheelbase is 2,775mm, which is identical to the XUV.e9.
Unlike the other models, Mahindra gave us a much better look at the BE.05’s interiors. The BE.05 interior will feature a large display which will house two screens. Mahindra has also minimised the use of physical controls and has instead opted to use touch-sensitive controls across the cabin. The driver-focused interior is divided by a centre console. Right before the end of the dashboard, there’s a cupholder, rotary dial and ahead of it, the gear selector. The images also show the available driving modes the BE.05 will offer.
