Mahindra planning 5 EVs for India by October 2026

Mahindra had earlier annouced that it would be launching five electric vehicles in India by October 2026. Now, the Indian carmaker has confirmed that the same in on track as announced last year. Back in August 2022, the company had showcased its electric vehicle range in the United Kingdom. To this end, Mahindra has set aside INR 10,000 crore.

Mahindra Electric : Way Forward

Mahindra EV business – Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited recently attracted investment from Singapore-based Equity Fund Temasek to the tune of INR 1,200 crore. This will get them a stake of 1.49 to 2.97 percent. The EV arm is hence attracting investments.

All these new EVs will be based on Mahindra INGLO platform. This skateboard platform will use Blade and Prismatic cell structures. The battery capacity will range from 60-80 kWh. Furthermore, it will incorporate fast charging upto 175 kW. This will give a 0-80 percent charging time of 30 minutes.

All EVs based on this platform can have both single or dual motor configurations with two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options in the same model as well.

Mahindra EV launch timelines

The first amongst these would be the Mahindra XUV.e8. The estimated launch time is around December 2024. It is likely to incorporate features of this existing Mahindra XUV700. The XUV.e8 will get three-row seating, 80 kWh battery pack and offer 230-350 HP to total power.

By April 2025, the Mahindra XUV.e9 could be in dealerships. This is the coupe-version of the XUV700 SUV. The powertrain is expected to be shared with the XUV.e8 SUV.

Next up is the Mahindra BE.05. It is expected to arrive by October 2025. The car is currently under the testing phase. It will measure 4.3m in length and take on the likes of the Tata Curvv.

Mahindra BE Rall-E is the BE.05’s off-road oriented version. It will get cladding, updated bumpers and off-road specific tyres. It might be launched alongside the BE.05.

Lastly, there is the Mahindra BE.07. This could be planned around October 2026. Based on the XUV700, it will have extra length added behind the rear wheels. Mahindra could offer new interiors on the inside consisting of a button-less design with large screens and haptic feedback elements.
