On 15th August 2022, Mahindra inaugurated its state-of-the-art EV design studio in the UK. Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (M.A.D.E) will be the brand’s global design centre of excellence. Furthermore, it will also serve as the conceptual hotbed for Mahindra’s portfolio of EV products. This is also where the brand designed the recently unveiled 5 e-SUVs. The new design studio is in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Mahindra Group’s Chairman, Anand Mahindra and International Trade Minister for the UK, Ranil Jayawardena, inaugurated the new design studio.
The design studio is located at the global and EV hub of Banbury, Oxfordshire. The region is renowned for its high-end research and academic institutions. It is also home to Oxford University. Importantly, Oxfordshire offers access to new and emerging technologies like AI, autonomics, advanced robotics and more. These technologies promise to shape the future of mobility.
M.A.D.E forms a part of the Mahindra Global Design Network, which also includes Mahindra India Design Studio, Mumbai. Its primary purpose is to conceive and create all of the future Mahindra EVs and advanced vehicle design concepts.
The company equipped the design studio with state-of-the-art design tools. Thus, enabling the handling of end-to-end design activities. These include conceptualisation, 3D digital and physical modelling, Class-A surfacing, digital visualisation and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) design. The design studio also features a complete digital visualisation suite, clay modelling studio and VR digital modelling. Furthermore, there are also digital and physical presentation areas.
Heading the design studio is award-winning automotive designer Cosimo Amadei. The design studio has a total staff strength of 30 of the most experienced and brightest talent in global automotive design.
Anand Mahindra said that M.A.D.E is another vital node in the company’s neural network of innovation. He further added that in 15 months, their work has already laid the blueprint for an electrifying future.
