Mahindra has launched the new Mahindra ZEO 4-wheeled small commercial vehicle in the Indian market at the price of INR 7.52 lakh ex-showroom. According to the brand the Mahindra ZEO is a game changer and the eSCV features the highest range, fast charging and new features. In addition to this, Mahindra also revealed that the name ‘ZEO’, stands for “Zero Emission Option”. Mahindra also claims that the ZEO is not just eco-friendly but customers can save an upwards of INR 7 lakhs in 7 years when compared to a diesel SCV.
The Mahindra ZEO comes with a 300+ volt architecture offering faster charging times and higher range and energy. Thanks to the powerful and energy efficient electric architecture, the ZEO is also capable of a payload capacity of 765 kgs. The Mahindra ZEO also features a bigger 2250 mm cargo box which further enhances its capacity. The Mahindra ZEO is capable of fast charging which reduces the turn-around-time of the vehicle. Using a DC fast charger, the Mahindra ZEO can be charged to go for 100 km in just 60 minutes. As standard, the ZEO comes with a 3.3 kW charging unit.
Powering the Mahindra ZEO is a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with 30 kW of power and 114 Nm of torque. The electric motor is coupled to a 21.3 kWh liquid-cooled battery pack which claims to offer a range of 160 km on a single charge. The Mahindra ZEO also comes with a top speed of 60 kmph. The SCV is also capable of a 32% gradability which is the highest in the <2T electric cargo segment. The ZEO features an automatic transmission and comes with a creep function which helps reduce driver fatigue especially in urban stop-and-go traffic situations.
The Mahindra ZEO also comes with features such as USB type-C charging, lockable glove box, a fully digital instruments cluster, a transmission dial on the dashboard and a walk through cabin. The Mahindra ZEO also comes with AI-enabled camera-based ADAS which features Driver monitoring System, Lane Departure Warning, Headway Monitoring, Driver Behavioral Analysis, Pedestrian Collision etc.
