Mahindra has launched the Arjun Novo tractor in India at a price of Rs. 7.35 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). This is just Rs. 15,000 higher than the outgoing Arjun 605Di model.
The Arjun Novo is the first tractor to be based on the new high horse power (HP) platform. It will be available in 2 variants – 57 HP 605DI-i and a 52 HP 605DI-PS. One can select if he wants the standard open station tractor or an air-conditioned cabin.
The Arjun Novo has best in class lift capacity of 2,200 kg. The 4-cylinder, with inline FIP engine generates a peal torque of 236.9 Nm and back up torque of 33%. Engine is mated to an advanced synchromesh with 18 speed options including 15 front (highest in India) and 3 rear gears. The tractor has the longest service interval of 400 hours. The tractor speed ranges between 1.69 kmph and 33 kmph.
Mahindra has spent about Rs. 300 crores on the development of this new platform. A total of 73 tractors had been tested for performance and reliability for a cumulative 70,000 hours for 40 applications. This is the first new tractor platform which has been designed and developed at Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai.
The tractor has easy attachment systems and makes it useable for applications such as land development, sowing, ploughing, tilling, harrowing and planting. It is also compatible with a rotary tiller, MB plough, TMCH potato planter, digger, rake, baler and mulcher and shredder.
