Mahindra Electric’s Treo electric rickshaw crosses 5,000 sales mark

Mahindra Electric Mobility Ltd, part of the Mahindra Group has announced that the 100% electric 3-wheeler range, the Mahindra Treo has crossed the 5,000 units sales mark in the Indian market. The lithium-ion battery-powered electric three-wheeler is offered in two main variants the Treo and Treo Yaari. The Mahindra Treo has two trims SFT and HRT, the SFT comes with a weather-resistant flexible canopy and the HRT trim comes with a hardtop. Similarly, the Treo Yaari also comes with an SFT and HRT trim with soft and hard canopy. The major difference between the Treo and Treo Yaari is the seating capacity, the width and the powertrain. 

The brand has also announced that the Treo has cumulatively travelled a distance of over 35 Million km on Indian roads which translates to a savings of 1,925 metric tonnes of CO2 tailpipe emissions which is also equivalent to planting 87,500 trees that are able to absorb the same amount of emissions. The low running cost of the Treo range enables the customers to save up to INR 45,000 / year. Treo customers are also able to clock approximately 265 kilometres in a single day with the ease of charging the three-wheeler.

The Treo is powered by a 48V lithium-ion battery with an installed capacity of 7.37kWh matched to a 5.4kW electric motor that produces 30 Nm of torque that offers a certified range of 170 km and a  typical driving range of 130 km. The Treo can achieve a top speed of 45 kmph and seats Driver + 3 Passengers. The lithium-ion battery on the Treo takes 3 hours and 50 minutes to fully charge. In terms of dimensions, the Treo measures 2746mm in length, 1350mm in width, 1750mm (soft top) and 1757mm (hardtop) in height with a wheelbase of  2050mm and it has a kerb weight of 340 kg (soft top) 350 kg (hardtop).

The Treo Yaari which is able to seat Driver + 4-people measures 2746mm in length, 995mm in width, 1750mm (soft-top) 1757mm (hardtop) in height with a wheelbase of 2050mm and it has a kerb weight of 265 kg (soft top) 275 kg (hardtop). The Treo Yaari is powered by a 48V lithium-ion battery with an installed capacity of 3.69kWh and comes with a 1.96kW electric drivetrain that produces 19 Nm of torque and returns a certified range of 129 km and a typical driving range of 85 km on a single charge. The electric three-wheeler can achieve a top speed of 24.5 kmph. 

The Mahindra Treo Range is currently being sold in over 400 districts across the country. The fully electric three-wheeler also comes with a standard warranty of 3 years / 80,000 km, along with the option of an Extended Warranty of 2 years / 1,00,000 Kms.
