Mahindra Reva has added a new variant to its E2O electric car. Dubbed as the E2O Premium, this new variant adds electric power steering to the vehicle.

The premium variant also gets improvements in the single charge travel range and can now much 120 km / charge. Apart from this, other equipment available in the car includes an MID, reverse parking camera, hill hold and an infotainment system. Using a smartphone, you can even find out the nearest charging station.

The E2O is powered by an electric motor that produces 19 kW of power @ 3,750 RPM and 53.9 Nm of torque @ 0-3,000 RPM. Battery is a 48 V lithium-ion unit and need a total of 5 hours to charge fully. With the addition of power steering, city driveability and parking the car will see considerable amount of improvement. If the car gets low on battery, the driver can use the REVive app on his / her smartphone and activate the reserve energy. This reserve energy will provide you a range of additional 8 km. The E2O can achieve a top speed of 81 kmph.

So far, the E2O hasn’t managed to make a cut for Mahindra Reva. It sold fewer than 1,000 units last year which is much lower than the manufacturer would have expected. Mahindra claims that they have installed around 300 charging stations across major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Pune. Another 100 charging stations are to be set up by the end of this year.

Under the company’s ‘Goodbye Fuel, Hello Electric’ programme, the E2O Premium is available for Rs. 5.72 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) with a monthly energy fee of Rs. 2,999 and will allow customers to use the car for approximately 50,000 km for a period of five years.
