Mahindra Automotive & Tractor sales performance in February 2021

Passenger Vehicle Sales

Mahindra & Mahindra announced that the company registered 28,777 units of passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles as well as exports for the month of February 2021. When compared to the same month last year, February 2020, the brand sold 32,476 units in automobile sales. The brand’s Utility vehicle department registered sales of 15,380 units in February 2021 as compared to the 10,675 units sold in February 2020 showing a growth of 44%. The brand also sold 11 units of Cars and Vans which includes sales from Mahindra Electric Mobility LTD, in February 2021 as compared to the sales of 263 unit of February 2020 showing a 96% decline in the segment.

Commercial Vehicle Sales

The Commercial Vehicle arm of the company sold 1175 units of Light Commercial Vehicles with < 2 Tonnes capacity as compared to the 1220 units sold in the corresponding month last year, showing a decline in sales of about 4%. In the 2 Tonne to 3.5 Tonne segment the brand saw 46% negative sales with 7446 units sold in February 2021 compared to 13771 units sold in February 2020. In the 3.5 Tonne to M&HCV segment, Mahindra sold 581 units of vehicles in February 2021 as compared to 865 units sold in February 2020 showing a decline of 33%. Mahindra also sold 2357 units of three-wheelers including electric three-wheelers in February 2021 as compared to 3843 units sold in February 2020 showing a negative of 39% in sales. Mahindra also exported 1,827 units in the month of February 2021 as compared to 1,839 units exported in February 2020 showing a decline in exports by 1% in both Passenger Vehicles and Commercial Vehicles.

Farm Equipment Sector

Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector registered sales of 27,170 units in the month of February 2021 in the domestic market as compared to the sales of 21,877 units during February 2020, showing a growth of 24%. The brand also exported 976 units to the international market in the month of February 2021 as compared to 684 units exported in February 2020 showing a growth of 43%. The exports also include CKD kits exported to other countries. In total, Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector shows a growth of 25% with a total sales of 28,146 units sold in February as compared to 22,561 units sold in February 2020.
