Mahindra is soon going to launch their new flagship SUV, the Alturas G4. The Alturas G4 is nothing but the 4th generation SsangYong Rexton G4 which is making a debut in our market. Brought in India as a CKD, and rebadged as a Mahindra, the Alturas G4 or the Rexton G4 has been on sale globally for a few months, and has received quite a good response.
When launched, the Alturas G4 is going to rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. However, Mahindra is targeting a competitive price tag, to help attract buyers to the Alturas G4.
Powering the Alturas G4 is going to be an all-new 2.2L diesel engine. This motor has been developed by SsangYong and will be matched to a Mercedes-sourced 7-speed automatic gearbox. The engine will get shift-on-fly 4WD tech and also sport and electronic park brake. The Alturas G4 will be available only with an automatic gearbox, in 2WD & 4WD variants.
In terms of safety features, the Alturas G4 will come with segment best 9-airbags, ESP, BAS, EBD-ABS, TCS, ARP, HSA & ESS. This makes the car high on safety equipment compared to competition. There will also be a 360-degree surround view camera support shown on the centre infotainment system.
The Alturas G4 measures 4850mm in length, 2865mm in wheelabase, 1960mm in width and has a height of 1845mm. With a seating capacity of 7, the Alturas G4 has a weight of 2050 kg for the 2WD variant and 2150 kg for the 2WD variant.
