Flipkart recently announced its partnership with Magenta Mobility, an electric mobility solutions provider. Under this, Magenta will deploy electric vehicles for its last-mile transportation. With this collaboration, Magenta Mobility formally enters the National Capital Area (Delhi NCR), wherein they will deploy around 400 electric cargo vehicles to the Flipkart fleet in Delhi NCR. This deployment is over and above the existing fleet that Magenta is currently operating for Flipkart in Bengaluru.
Magenta Mobility currently operates an electric fleet of over 500 vehicles. They have a presence in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. Their major serving clients are e-commerce, grocery delivery, FMCG, food, and pharmaceuticals. As of today, Magenta’s electric cargo fleet has travelled over 1 million clean (electric) kilometres. This equates to approximately 150 metric tons of CO2. Furthermore, with its own Electric Fleet Management System, the organisation provides an excellent platform for companies hoping to achieve practical portability goals in decarbonisation.
Magenta Mobility has plans to deploy a fleet of over 500 EVs in Delhi this year. This will help to meet the needs of organisations looking to transition to clean mobility. With such associations, India is now getting a clean, sustainable, and affordable last-mile delivery solution. This adoption of electric mobility especially. Flipkart will utilise Magenta’s Electric cargo fleets, including the newly launched Mahindra Zor Grand and other select OEMs, to boost the growth of EV adoption for last-mile logistics.
The electrification of the logistics fleet is an important part of Flipkart’s larger sustainability goal. Moreover, this is in line with Flipkart’s commitment to the Climate Group’s EV100 initiative. The collaboration also reinforces Flipkart’s plans to add more than 25,000 EVs to its supply chain. All this will add up perfectly to achieve a 100 per cent transition to e-mobility by 2030.
