Maruti Suzuki has started exports of their S-Presso compact car from India. The S-Presso which is completely Made-in-India is a mass market small car which will now be sold in global markets which include Latin America, Asia and Africa. The first batch of S-Presso for exports has already been shipped out. The brand reveals that in the domestic market, here in India, the S-Presso has clocked sales of over 35,000 units since launch in September 2019. It has also featured in the top 10 cars as per monthly sales here in Inda.
The primary selling point of the S-Presso is the value proposition. With high ground clearance mimicking SUVs along with ample space inside the cabin, the S-Presso makes a strong case for itself to lure buyers. It also comes with features such as touchscreen infotainment, AMT gearbox, ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, etc. to make your journey enjoyable, comfortable and safe. While the exterior styling might be a bit quirky, the S-Presso is slowly and steadily gaining mass market acceptance thanks to its SUV-ish styling and the love for SUVs as a whole by the buyer set in India.
Powering the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is a 1.0L, K10 series petrol motor. This engine produces 90 Nm of peak torque @ 3500 RPM and 50 kW of peak power @ 5500 RPM matched to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox. The mileage claim by the brand is between 21.4 – 21.7 kmpl. The S-Presso is a 5-seater compact car measuring 3565mm in length, 1564mm in height, 1520mm in width, 2380mm in wheelbase and is sold in 6 body colour options.
The S-Presso was launched with a BS6 engine from the day of launch, and was the 8th BS6 vehicle from the brand at that time. Maruti Suzuki is betting big on the SUV craze here in India and will be revealing the Futuro-E concept at the 2020 Auto Expo in India which will be an electric coupe SUV.
