Lotus has revealed the new Emira sports car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The new mid-engined sports car sits below the all-electric Evija hypercar and above the Evora. The Emira will compete with the Alpine 110 and Porsche 718 Cayman in the international market. At the same time, the Emira is a tad bit longer than the Porsche 911, but the sportscar tips the scales at just 1,405 kilograms.
Powering the Emira will be two engine options. The range-topping First Edition model will come with a Lotus-honed 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine that also did duty on the Evora and Exige. The other option is the 2.0-litre turbocharged ‘i4’ from the brand’s technical partner AMG. According to Lotus, the Emira will develop a power output between 360 Hp to 400 Hp of power and a maximum torque of 430 Nm. The Emira will come with manual, automatic and Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) automatic gearbox options.
The Lotus Emira claims a 0-100 kmph sprint in less than 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 290 kmph. The sportscar measures 4,412mm in length, 1,895mm in width and 1,225mm in height. The Emira gets 2,575mm of the wheelbase and rides on 20-inch alloy wheels shod in Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport tyre. The brand also offers Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 as an option along with the Lotus Drivers Pack.
The Lotus Emira draws its design inspiration from the Lotus Evija hypercar. The car comes with contemporary sculpted surfaces and taut character lines. The vehicle comes with vertical LED headlamps, and a flat C-shaped LED light cluster on the rear. The Emira gets twin exhaust pipes by the number plate and a diffuser to keep the car planted.
On the inside, the Emira features a wraparound dashboard that blends into the door trim. The car also comes with a raised gear shifter with a semi-exposed gear linkage on the V6 manual edition. The sportscar also features a four-way electric adjustment with a 12-way electric seat as an option. The driver-focused cabin also features a flat-bottomed sports steering wheel with metallic spoke detail and integrated controls.
The Lotus Emira gets features such as a 10.25-inch centrally mounted touch-screen and 12.3-inch TFT driver’s display along with a KEF 10-channel premium sound system. The Emira also comes with features such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), offering adaptive cruise control, anti-collision system, fatigue alert, vehicle speed limiter, lane change assist, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert and road sign information. The sportscar also gets cruise control, rear parking sensors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, electric folding door mirrors, launch control, vehicle tracking and multiple airbags.
The brand has revealed that the Emira will retail with prices less than GBP 60,000 in Great Britain. Lotus dealerships worldwide have already started accepting deposits for the sportscar, and Lotus will deliver the first Emira next spring. The Lotus Emira will make its market debut with six colour options – Hethel Yellow, Shadow Grey, Magma Red, Nimbus Grey, Dark Verdant and Seneca Blue.
