Liger Mobility reveals AutoBalancing electric scooters, deliveries from 2023

Liger Mobility, an engineering and technology company, headquartered in Mumbai, has unveiled the world’s first AutoBalancing electric scooter. According to the company, these scooters will balance themselves independently, thereby increasing safety, rider comfort and convenience.

Liger’s AutoBalancing Technology

The patented AutoBalancing Technology is said to be a first for electric scooters. The system works with the aim of helping balance the scooter at low speeds or when it is stationary. Once sufficient speeds are reached, and the scooter is stable, the AutoBalancing goes on standby mode.

The company claims that this new tech could work wonders for improving rider safety, convenience, and comfort compared to any regular scooter available across the globe. Additionally, the rider can turn this on and off this feature as and when needed.

Liger X and Liger X+ : More details

The design of the bikes can be said to be contemporary. The Liger, a hybrid of a lion and a tiger, inspires it. It gets LED lights all around. The scooters will be available in a choice of 5 colours – Grey, Polar White, Blue, Titanium and Red.

Regarding top speed, both variants will max out at 65 km/h. While the Liger X can go up to 60 km on a single charge, the X+ has a claimed range of 100 km. Coming to battery packs, the Liger X sports a detachable battery pack with a charging time of under 3 hours. The Liger X+ gets a higher capacity non-detachable battery that charges under 4.5 hours.

Other features include 4G and GPS technologies that allow the rider to see the live location, ride history, battery percentage and temperature. Riders will also receive alerts when the scooter is towed, an accident has coloured or when service is due. Both the Liger X and X+ get onboard navigation, as well as alerts on the screen for calls or messages. The scooter will also get over-the-air updates.

Some of the key highlights of the scooters are their features related to AutoBalancing technology. These include:

  • FootFreeStop – Unlike other two-wheelers, riders don’t need to keep their legs on the ground to support the scooter. The scooter will balance itself when stationary or at low speeds.
  • ReverseRide – There is a reverse mode that will enable riders to get out of tight spots effortlessly. No need to backpedal.
  • Learner mode – Aimed at riders who are new to the scooter, this ensures that AutoBalacing is on as the top speed of the scooter is reduced, ensuring that a new learner is able to master riding in a safe and controlled environment.
