At the Lexus Concept Reveal Show, Japanese car manufacturer revealed the Lexus LF-Z Electrified, a concept battery-electric vehicle under the development of the brand’s Lexus Electrified vision, a global electrification initiative whose aim is to make a fundamental leap in vehicle performance and to provide comfort and pleasure at the same time.
The Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept will be put into production in 2025 and in today’s reveal the brand showcases the electric vehicles driving performance, styling, and technologies. The concept study measures 4,880mm in length, 1,960mm in width, 1,600mm in height, 2,950mm of the wheelbase and the battery electric vehicle tips the scales at 2,100 kg. The coupe-esque crossover features the hallmark Lexus front fascia but comes with a blank-out grille design, sleek double-stacked LED headlamp units with a Lexus signature LED DRL in between, muscular front bumper, a shape wing-like lower bumper design for aerodynamic optimisation, piano black cladding on the wheel arches with aero blades that clear the passing turbulent air, flush-mounted door handles, and cameras instead of ORVMs. The roof features a centre spine and glass panels on both sides, a geometric rear bumper with a diffuser and wraparound taillights.
The Lexus LF-Z Electrified’s ‘Tazuna’ Concept interior features a driver-centric cockpit with a multi-screen layout, a futuristic squircle steering wheel and a minimalist design. The brand boasts that a human-centric approach has been the brand’s ideology since its foundation in 1989. The brand also reveals that the interior of the LF-Z Electrified will feature an artificial intelligence system that acts as a lifestyle concierge that is able to propose routes and restaurant reservations, enhancing the mobility experience. Powering the LF-Z Electrified is a 400kW / 700 Nm electric motor with a ‘Direct4’ all-wheel drive technology that draws power from a liquid-cooled 90 kWh Lithium-Ion Battery pack that is able to propel the car from 0-100 hour in just 3 seconds and achieve a top speed of 200 kmph.
The Japanese brand plans to globally introduce 20 new or improved models by the year 2025. This plan also includes the launch of more than 10 electrified models such as BEVs, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles(PHEVs), HEVs depending on the region and demand. The brand also revealed that by 2025 Lexus will offer electrification on all their models and also offset sales of electric vehicles compared to gasoline-powered engines. The brand also aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
