Land Rover UK unveiled the latest range-topping version of its Discovery 7-seater SUV known as the Metropolitan Edition. Based on the Discovery’s R-Dynamic HSE trim, Land Rover adds a new ‘Bright Atlas’ detailing for the front grille. Along with the ‘Bright Atlas’ Discovery lettering, Land Rover includes ‘Hakuba Silver’ lower bumper inserts and 22-inch Gloss Grey Alloy Wheels.
Other Styling updates include black brake callipers, privacy glass, and a sliding panoramic sunroof. The new Metropolitan Edition costs GBP 73,250 in the UK, while the standard Discovery starts at GBP 55,100 MSRP. Jaguar Land Rover launched the new Discovery for India in July 2021, priced at INR 88.06 lakh. In India, the Discovery R-Dynamic HSE is available in 3 distinct formats- P360, P300, and the D300.
The Land Rover Discovery, in its R-Dynamic HSE trim, features new LED headlamps, tail lamps, turn-indications, DRLs, and sports 12 colour options. These include Fuji White, Santorini Black, Yulong White, Byron Blue, Eiger Grey, Portofino Blue, Lantau Bronze, Hakuba Silver, Carpathian Grey, Silicon Silver Namib Orange, and Charente Grey. Additional styling updates include new front bumpers and side vents, more comprehensive body-coloured graphics, a stepped roof, and a prominent C-pillar.
The Discovery sports a heavily updated interior with a host of new features and technologies on offer. The new 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment enables Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity along with JLR’s SOTA technology. Jaguar Land Rover offers the Discovery with a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and two interior colour scheme options.
Other features include Cabin Air Ionisation with PM2.5 air filtration and 20-way adjustable heated and cooled front seats. Optional features on offer include a hands-free Gesture Tailgate, Intelligent Seat Fold, and a second-generation Activity Key.
Powering the Discovery are the three Ingenium series of engines out of which two use petrol and one uses diesel. The P300 variant features a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol motor producing 300 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. The Discovery’s P360 variant sports a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six putting out 360 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque. The final D300 variant features a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel motor producing 300 PS of power and 650 Nm of torque. Driving all three engines is the tried and tested 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.
