Land Rover has launched the new Defender in the Indian market priced starting INR 73.98 ex-showroom, India. The Defender is launched in two iterations the three-door Defender ‘90’ and the longer five-door Defender ‘110’. The Defender will be available in five trims – Defender, Defender S, Defender SE, Defender HSE and Defender First Edition. The Defender also comes with Lifestyle Packs such as the Explorer Pack, the Adventure Pack, the Country Pack, and the Urban Pack. The lifestyle packs can be chosen by the customers who can choose to customise their Defender from a range of over 170 accessories.
In terms of the external dimensions, the Classic three-door ‘90’ variant measures in at 4,323 mm / 4,583 (with spare wheel) in length, 2,008mm in width, 1,974mm (Coil-Suspension) / 1,969 (Air suspension) in height and comes with a 2,587mm of the wheelbase. The ‘110’ variant measures 4,758 mm / 5,018 mm (with spare wheel), 2,008 mm in width, 1,967 mm in height and 3,022 mm of the wheelbase.
Powering the Defender is 2.0-litre 4-cylinder TwinTurbo petrol engine that produces 300 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque mated to an automatic transmission with an All-Wheel-Driveline. The SUV also comes with off-roading abilities and features 38-degree approach angle, 28-degree ramp-over angle and 40-degree departure angle with 291mm of ground clearance in the Off-Road mode and offers maximum water wading ability of 900mm with air suspension and 850mm with coil spring suspension, enabling the SUV to traverse over tough terrain with ease.
The Land Rover Defender features a timeless design language with butch and boxy features along with modern and contemporary lines as well as old-school features such as a diamond-plate design matte finish appliqué on the muscular bonnet, LED headlights as standard and Matrix LED units on the top-spec model, U-shaped LED daytime running lights integrated into the headlight unit, 20-inch 5-spoke split alloy wheels, vertically oriented tail lamps, front and rear skid plates and tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
On the inside, the Land Rover Defender comes with highlights such as exposed structural surfaces around the dashboard reflecting the rugged traits and heritage of the Defender marque along with modern features such as controls mounted steering wheel, 12.3-inch fully-digital colour instrument console, a centrally mounted 10-inch interactive infotainment system, clear sight IRVM etc.
