Land Rover Discovery Sport for rapid response disaster relief

On the occasion of completion of 10 years in India, Jaguar Land Rover has loaned a specially prepped Land Rover Discovery Sport this monsoon to Rapid Response which is a registered non-profit organisation which specialises in disaster management and relief. The NGO provides assistance to the vulnerable communities in both crisis and non-crisis circumstances.

The specially prepped Discovery Sport will be employed as an emergency responder, which will hold a multi purpose role, from administering medical assistance to the distribution of food and relief kits. The Land Rover Discovery Sport will also be used as a rescue vehicle in natural calamities across India. The Rapid Response NGO was founded in 2013 and has since helped 4 lakh lives across the Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra,  Meghalaya, Mizoram and Uttarakhand.

The Land Rover Discovery Sport’s capability will help in providing timely assistance in disaster situations. The Discovery Sport boasts  all-wheel-drive systems with four standard Terrain Response settings: General Driving, Grass/Gravel/ Snow, Mud & Ruts and Sand. The Terrain Response system ensures the vehicle is planted no matter what the terrain or weather conditions. The off-road capabilities coupled with the approach angle, departure angle and a maximum wading depth of 600 mm will allow rescue worker to reach more extreme areas. The Discovery Sport can carry 5 people and have a load space of around 981-litres. The Special SUV will come equipped with a luggage carrier, luggage partition, a tow rope and more.
