Land Rover Defender in a supporting role at the Red Bull X-Alps 2021

Land Rover has announced that the Defender SUV will play a vital role as a support car at the Red Bull X-Alps 2021. Land Rover is the official vehicle partner for the Red Bull X-Alps, one of the most challenging adventure races in the world. The brand will provide Defender 110 as the support vehicle for the adventure event, which is slated to commence on 20 June 2021.

The Land Rover Defender is one of the most capable and durable SUV. The SUV comes with a rugged 4×4 drivetrain and can provide transport and shelter for supplies and equipment. The Land Rover Defender 110 for the X-Alps will also come with Autohome Roof Tents to aid athletes and crew members. The knitted tents will provide shelter for much-needed recovery. 

Red Bull X-Alps 2021 Athletes under TeamLandRover

Land Rover has announced that the brand will support seven athletes in the Red Bull X-Alps 2021. This includes six-time Red Bull X-Alps

winner Christian Maurer of Switzerland. Maurer will be joined by Red Bull X-Alps veterans Paul Guschlbauer (Austria), Gavin McClurg (USA), Tobias Grossrubatscher (Italy) and Markus Anders (Germany). Laurie Genovese of France and Théo de Blic from France will also make their debut as part of the TeamLandRover.

Land Rover Defender Support Vehicle Features & Accessories

Each support vehicle will be capable of a maximum payload of up to 900 kg. The SUV can also carry a dynamic roof load of 168 kg and a static load of 300 kg for each vehicle. The Land Rover Defender also features Terrain Response 2, including the world-first Configurable Terrain Response. This will give the drivers the right configuration, depending on the conditions. The support vehicle will also come with accessories such as Land Rover’s Portable Rinse System, Exterior Side-Mounted Gear Carriers and Integrated Air Compressors. The Defender will also come with integrated 4G Wi-Fi connectivity. 

What is Red Bull X-Alps?

Red Bull X-Alps athlete will cover more than 1200 km of the demanding alpine landscape. The event will run for 12 days, from 20 June to 2 July 2021. Thirty-Two athletes will combine hiking, ultra-running, mountaineering and paragliding. Athletes will hike over 50km and 5000m of altitude gain, burning as many as 6000 calories per day.
