Urus, the first-ever SUV built by the Italian supercar maker has been an instant success all over the world and now it has found its love in India as well. Being the most affordable Lamborghini on sale is also helping in getting more customers all over the world.
Lamborghini Urus was launched in the year 2018 and just after a year, i.e. in 2019 Lamborghini reported that it had sold 65 units of which the maximum of the sales was for the Urus and the cumulative sales figure was 30% more than what it was in 2018. For the last year 2020, Lamborghini reported that it had crossed the 50 units mark and sold a total of 52 units. Lamborghini also mentioned that it is getting customers from the 2nd and 3rd tier cities which are helping to boost its sales.
Under the hood of the SUV, lies a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 oil burner which cranks out 641 BHP of power and 850 Nm of torque. It was the fastest SUV when launched and can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.6 seconds with having a top speed of 305 kmph. The SUV gets a host of features like; air suspension which alters the car’s ride height from 158 mm being the lowest to 248 mm being the highest for improving its off-road capabilities, the virtual cockpit has seen in the other Volkswagen AG group cars, a boot of 616 litres, a space-saver spare tyre, a decent enough legroom for 6ft tall passenger in the rear seat and more.
There is no hiding the fact that SUVs are selling at an all-time high numbers across the globe outclassing the other body types. In fact, even the luxury car makers are shifting their focus and have started developing their SUVs as evident from Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga, Aston Martin DBX and more. The demand is so high that even Ferrari which once claimed that they would never build an SUV is also joining the bandwagon and it is expected Ferrari will launch its first SUV named Purosangue sometime in 2022.
