Automobili Lamborghini has unveiled the Urus SE, its first plug-in hybrid sports SUV, marking a significant milestone in the company’s history. The Urus SE was revealed at Auto China Beijing 2024 and is expected to launch in India in the first half of 2025.
The Urus SE is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine combined with a 189 hp electric motor, delivering a total output of 789 hp. This powertrain configuration makes the Urus SE the most powerful version of the model. The electric motor is added to the eight-speed automatic transmission.
The Urus SE can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds, making it 0.1 seconds faster than the standard Urus S. The vehicle can travel 37 miles or 50 km on battery power alone, according to Lamborghini. The top speed in EV mode tops out just under 130 kmph compared to the vehicle’s overall top speed of 312 kmph.
Exterior modifications to the Urus SE include new 23-inch wheels, a “floating” hood that extends over the grille, and new headlights The front end features minor tweaks to the hood that supposedly take after the new Revuelto sports car, while the cargo hatch at the rear has been redesigned to take after the Gallardo.
The interior of the Urus gets a redesign as well, notably a larger 12.3-inch screen mounted to the center of the dash sporting Lamborghini’s most recent digital interface. There are more than 100 paint options, with Lamborghini adding two more for 2025: Arancio Egon (orange), and Bianco Sapphirus (white).
The Urus SE represents a significant step towards the future in line with Lamborghini’s Direzione Cor Tauri strategy, moving ahead with the electrification of the range and the path toward decarbonization.
