Lamborghini unveils the latest iteration of its V10 supercar, called the Huracan Tecnica. The all-new Huracan Tecnica slots between the Huracan EVO and the track-focused Huracan STO. Lamborghini says the new rear-wheel-drive model provides the best of both worlds. The Huracan Tecnica offers all the significant advantages of the STO without being too hardcore. Driving pleasure on the road and approachable limits on the track were of crucial focus.
The Huracan Tecnica’s styling gets new Y-shaped air curtains in the front for a new look and increased downforce. Lamborghini says the new bumper draws inspiration from the Terzo Millennio’s black Ypilson design. It is the first time a Huracan model utilises an air curtain. The car receives a new front splitter, which sits lower and has openings for improved downforce and cooling.
The profile of the car is a departure from the Huracan EVO. Although the width and height remain the same, it is 61mm longer than the EVO. The track-only Essenza SCV12 inspires the silhouette of the car. The black Y-shaped design feature continues along the vehicle’s flank to the side air intakes, enhancing the stance. The roof of the car is also available with a black-colour option.
The rear of the Tecnica gets a new vertical rear glass window for better visibility, and a redesigned carbon-fibre engine hood shows off the V10 engine. A new rear bumper comes with a better-optimised air inlet and a diffuser also available with a black colour option. New hexagonal-shaped exhaust pipes deliver the famous V10 soundtrack.
The fixed rear wing completes the rear-end look and contributes to the 35 per cent improvement in rear downforce over the Huracan EVO RWD. The increase in downforce does not affect the drag, and it is, in fact, 20 per cent lower, improving the aerodynamic balance. The Tecnica also gets new 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels with centre-locking. The hexagonal wheel design draws inspiration from the Lamborghini Vision GT.
The Huracan Tecnica continues to use the naturally-aspirated 5.2-litre V10 powerplant. In the Tecnica, it outputs 640 PS of power, which is the same as the STO and 30 more than the EVO. Maximum torque of 565 Nm at 6,500 rpm also helps in everyday driving and exiting out of corners on the racetrack. The added performance enables the Tecnica to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 3.2 seconds. A 0-200 kmph sprint takes just 9.1 seconds, and the top speed is a claimed 325 kmph.
The power is only sent to the rear wheels using a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Advanced brake-based torque-vectoring and an enhanced Performance Traction Control System (P-TCS) provide a highly differentiated response depending on the Drive Mode. The vehicle also utilises a rear-wheel steering and a fixed steering ratio.
The use of carbon fibre and aluminium in the car’s construction helps to keep the weight low. The Tecnica weighs 1,379kgs, 10kgs less than the EVO RWD version. The carbon-ceramic brakes help reduce the weight and offer better heat dissipation for less brake fade.
