Lamborghini confirms new HPEV super sports car will get a hybrid twin-turbo V8 engine

Perforance car-maker Lamborghini has announced that the Italian brand will soon be introducing an all-new V8 Hybrid engine. In addition to this, Lamborghini also revealed that the code name for the successor to the Huracan will be “Lamborghini 634”. The Lamborghini 634 will also be joining the High Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) line-up as well.

What is HPEV?

HPEV or High Performance Electrified Vehicle will combine a twin-turbo V8 engine with an electric unit. The hybrid engine technology will power the successor of the Lamborghini Huracan. The electric hybrid system will incorporate three electric motors with the Lamborghini twin-turbo V8 engine as well as its 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox that made its debut on the Revuelto .

Lamborghini 634 – Engine Specifications

The all-new engine has been designed in Sant’Agata Bolognese and claims to surpass the performance and driving emotion of the current Huracan. Lamborghini also claims that the new hybrid engine combines the high linearity that made its V10 engine famous with higher power and specific torque delivery of the new-generation turbocharged engine.

Powering the Lamborghini 634 will be a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 800 PS of power between 9,000 to 9,750 RPMs. However, the engine is capable of revving upto 10,000 RPMs. The 200 PS per litre engine is also capable of delivering 730 Nm of torque between 4,000 and 7,000 RPMs delivering performace similar to a race car.

The rear electric unit is designed along with the V8 engine and features an inverter as well as the axial electric unit. The electric unit is capable of delivering a maximum of 300 Nm and 110 kW at 3,500 RPM. The brand has also worked on the sound of the engine to give the new powerplant. The flat-plane crankshaft offers a unique and distinctive character and transfers vibrations to the chassis delivering the driver an unmatched driving experience. 

The Lamborghini 634 is scheduled to launch in 2024. The brand is yet to reveal the debut dates.
