KYMCO, the Taiwanese two-wheeler manufacturer is planning to enter the Indian market. Being the 5th largest scooter manufacturer in the world, and looking at how the Indian two-wheeler market is accepting scooters with open arms, this move is not really surprising. KYMCO is already selling successfully worldwide, but an Indian debut could happen only by 2021.
Very few know about KYMCO here in India, and the brand taking time to enter our market makes sense as a low of brand building acitivites need to be planned. KYMCO however is planning to join hands with a local player in the market when they make a debut, so they do not wish to go independent from day 1.
KYMCO reveals that they have been planning to enter our market since 20 years, and the scooterisation in our two-wheeler industry makes it the perfect time as of now for this plan to be executed. KYMCO will focus on the premium scooter and electric scooter space, so don’t expect a Honda Activa rival.
KYMCO has a scooter product portfolio which the Indian audience never has had a taste of in the recent times. The brand retails 125cc, 300cc, 400cc & a twin-cylinder 550cc scooter in markets abroad. Power output is as high as 54 PS & 55 Nm for the higher capacity scooter. Now this, surely is exciting.
The scooters will surely come with class leading features such as disc brakes, ABS, LED headlamps, digital instrumentation, split seats, telescopic forks, etc.
For those who want to continue daydreaming, you can search for the KYMCO AK550, have fun…
