Kymco Like 125 EV electric scooter revealed, gets 199 km range

Taiwanese two-wheeler manufacturer Kymco announces the launch of the 2022 edition of its electric scooter named, Like 125 EV. This EV is basically the electric version of Kymco’s Like 125 ICE scooter. This two-wheeler is particularly popular in Europe and certain Asian markets. Given the popularity of the ICE 125 scooter, we expect the electric version to do well as well. Kymco Like 125 EV will arrive in the international markets only.

The demand for electric scooters is at an all-time high, and this trend is relevant across the world. For the Indian market as well, there is a significant demand for electric vehicles, especially in the scooter segment. A host of new EV makers are marking their entry to the Indian market, including global giants like Yamaha, Suzuki and likes. As it stands, it is very unlikely for Kymco to launch the Like 125 EV for the Indian market. And for the time being, the ones looking for a retro based EV scooter should look towards the Bajaj Chetak or TVS iQube.

What Makes Kymco Like 125 Unique?

Given the range anxiety faced by EV owners, Kymco is leveraging the swappable battery concept. Kymco comes with 5 swappable battery packs that help the scooter reach a riding range of 199 km. Each of the batteries is of 50V13Ah rating and weighs 6 kg each. A total of two batteries power the scooter at a time. Kymco is using a 3.2 kW brushless D motor that makes 4.3 Hp and 124 Nm. In terms of design as well, the scooter looks quite scintillating. Carrying forward the trend of retro design, the Like 125 EV is a head-turner for sure.

Features And Rider Aids

As per today’s standard, the electric scooter gets all the bells and whistles. This includes a USB charging port in the glove box, reverse mode, and a Bluetooth-enabled digital dash that pairs with the rider’s smartphone for notifications, weather alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, all LED lighting setup and more.
