Taiwanese motorcycle manufacturer, Kwang Yang Motor Co, Ltd, ‘KYMCO’ for short, has unveiled a new electric scooter in the Taiwan market dubbed F9. The electric scooter features a sharp futuristic design and an innovative two-speed gearbox which is also the world’s first transmission specifically designed for electric scooter and improves its power delivery as well as the motor’s efficiency.
The KYMCO F9 is powered by a 9.4kW motor specifically designed for street riding and is able to accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in just 3 seconds and is capable of reaching speeds of up to 110 kmph. The electric motor is mated to a 2-speed Automatic transmission that improves its efficiency and power delivery. The motor is coupled to a 96V 40Ah lithium-ion battery that claims to return a range of 120 Km on a single charge according to New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). The battery also features fast charging capabilities and the company claims that the battery can be replenished in just 2 hours time.
The KYMCO F9 also employs a new state-of-the-art chassis that integrates the battery as part of the frame structure, resulting in a balanced centre of gravity and light overall weight of just 107 kgs. The KYMCO F9 also features 14-inch alloy wheels shod in wide rubber to offer exceptional grips while traversing the urban jungle. The F9 features petal disc brakes on the front and mechanically operated drum brakes on the rear.
The KYMCO F9 comes with a sporty design language, offered with twin split LED headlamps on the front with perimeter LED lamps, LED turn signal lamps mounted on the front apron, a small flyscreen with a menacing look, sporty front fenders, boomerang-shaped side panels, motorcycle-style footpegs, flat-bench seats, a sharp high-mounted tail section, LED stop lamps, rear fender integrated number plate holder and turn signal lamps. The KYMCO F9 e-scooter also features a full-colour TFT instruments panel.
