Great news for the motor sporting fraternity in India. Indian racer Kush Maini has signed up with Dutch-based, MP Motorsport to compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship. Completing the team for MP is Alexander Smolyar from Russia and Caio Collet from Brazil. This is the perfect opportunity to showcase his talent on a grand scale and grab the attention of international racing teams. He has already proved his talent at the F3 Asian Championship last year. To further his qualities he finished the British F3 Championship in 2020 on P2. Kush Maini is the younger brother of Arjun Maini who is a former FIA F2 and F3 driver. Currently, he is competing in the ELMS and the DTM.
Maini Reactions On Being Selected
With news coming in, Kush expressed his excitement to start the pre-season testing for the first round in Bahrain. MP was the only FIA F3 team to have two rookies finish in the top ten. This proves that the team has the ability to coach rookie drivers on their way and help them improve. Kush has proved himself in the past years, racing and winning at regional F3 levels. And now with the real deal coming in, Kush will aim to make the most out of this opportunity. Our all eyes will be on Maini when the 2022 F3 season kicks off on March 20 at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Kush Maini Accomplishments Till Date
Starting off this karting career in 2011, he won the Indian national title at Rotax Micromax. Then we went on clinching the second position in the 2013 WSK Euro Series at 60 Mini levels, fourth in the 2014 CIK-FIA World KF Junior Championship and fourth in the 2015 KF Junior WSK Champions Cup. Maini’s debut in single-seaters in 2016, was quite remarkable as he took his first podium in the Italian F4 Championship. Then in 2018 and 2020, he managed to secure third and then second in British F3. At the 2019 Formula Renault Eurocup, he grabbed the sixth position. His latest racing action came in 2021 when he combined the Asian F3 championship with an LMP2 drive in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
