A test mule of what appears to be the 2023 KTM 890 Adventure R has been spotted in India. The bike was seen on a pickup truck at a fuel bunk near the Bajaj factory. The KTM 890 Adventure R competes with the Triumph Tiger 900.
Bajaj has not yet announced any plans to launch the bike in India. However, two theories are being speculated – the bike could have been imported for the purposes of R&D, or the motorcycle’s launch is imminent. If the bike is launched in the Indian market, it is possible that the unveiling event could take place at the India Bike Week in December later this year. The India Bike Week (IBW) is happening in Goa on the 2nd and 3rd of December after a gap of 3 years due to COVID-19.
Could the KTM 890 Adventure R be launched at the IBW?
The IBW could be the launch event due to prior precedent. The company had previously displayed the 790 Adventure and 1290 SuperDuke at the event. Bike makers often gauge the response of a new bike, accessory or any new launch at such an event due to the attendance of biking enthusiasts from all over the country.
KTM 890 Adventure R design and technology
This KTM also gets an updated instrument cluster. The 890 Adventure R now gets a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster. It has a new appearance, coloured pictograms, and a USB Type-C port. The display also shows the navigation information and also gets a new call-out function.
In terms of electronics, the 2023 890 Adventure R now comes with a 6D sensor. The Offroad ABS setting too is also integrated into the Offroad Mode. An optional Rally mode is available, while a new Demo Mode is also present. Customers can take advantage of all the specs and options in this mode. However, it will be available for the first 1,500 km. Based on this, customers can opt for the package that they want.
KTM 890 Adventure R engine and specs
The KTM 890 Adventure R gets an 889cc, parallel-twin engine. This engine develops 104 BHP and 100 Nm of peak torque. Being an enduro bike, the KTM 890 Adventure R gets kit apt for rough surfaces. These include an adjustable upside-down fork suspension at the front and a mono-shock at the rear, wire-spoke wheels and offroad tyres.
