KTM reveals new TFT screens, dope tech

KTM has introduced a new TFT screen technology for its latest range of motorcycles in the Indian market. The new KTM TFT display comes in two avatars a V80 (vertical 8-inch) & H88 (horizontal 8.8 inch). Alongside the new TFT displays the brand is also offering a new handlebar switchgear as well as a new connectivity unit.

Induction Touchscreen Technology

According to KTM, the new touchscreen TFT dashboard features a more immersive HMI (Human-Machine Interface). Thanks to this the display will maximize the immersive experience while minimizing distractions. The bonded screen technology also features Anti-Reflex, Anti-Fingerprint, and Anti-Glare screen coatings to offer a seamless experience on the newly developed inductive touchscreen functionality.

256,000 Colours

KTM also claims that thanks to the massive 256,000 colour, compared to the 65,000 colours from before, the screen maintains details in all lighting conditions and is also visible from all angles. The inductive touch display technology also works regardless of weather or riding gear. The main screen also has touch shortcuts that eliminate the need for auxiliary switches, and allow options such as turning the heated grips on/, the rider heated seat, and the fog lights depending on the model.

Functionality and Connectivity

The screen is also highly customizable and configurable for split-screen functionality. It can also be pre-set for adaptive cruise control functions, map navigation, telemetry, favorites, or music and also comes with 5 layouts. In addition to this, KTM has also revised the switchgear on the KTM’s upcoming model which will also get the new AMT technology. Depending on the model the switchgear will have paddle shifter, Automatic and Manual (A/M) buttons and a new joystick on the left switch cube. The motorcycle connectivity unit has also been upgraded with CCU3.0 connectivity unit that gets 32 GB of storage and 3 GB of RAM.

Expect the KTM TFT Display to be initially available on KTM’s premium models with more models being added with it in the near future.
