KTM launches RC 390 GP in India at INR 3,16,070

Along with the RC 200 GP, KTM India has also launched the KTM RC 390 GP in India. This is the first time that KTM India has introduced special GP editions of its motorcycles. The new GP editions are inspired by KTM Factory Racing’s RC 16 MotoGP race bike.

KTM has made an unforgettable mark in MotoGP in a short span of 5 years. The brand currently has 6 wins and 8 podiums. Thus, the KTM Factory Racing team, with its RC 16 race bike, have become a force to reckon with. KTM’s RC range builds upon the experience KTM gained from MotoGP and aims to bring the ‘racetrack DNA to the street’.

The 2022 RC 390 was launched recently, and it received a major overhaul. The bike got an all-new chassis with a bolt-on subframe, new wheels, a bigger airbox and more. The new RC 390 GP now has the show to match the go.

KTM RC 390 GP – Pricing & Availability

Even with the new MotoGP race bike-inspired livery, the price of the RC 390 GP remains the same as the standard version. Thus, customers now have the choice to opt for the special GP edition without additional cost. The new RC 390 GP comes with a sticker price of INR 3,16,070 ex-showroom. The brand also mentioned that bookings for the new GP edition start from today across all KTM showrooms across the country. 

The 2022 KTM RC 390 will also be available in the standard trim. In the standard trim, customers can choose between two colour options. These are – KTM Factory Racing Blue & KTM Orange.

KTM RC 390 GP – Highlights

Aside from the new livery, the GP edition remains mechanically the same. Thus, it carries over all the updates the RC 390 received recently. Starting with the design. The RC 390 gets a new fairing with better aerodynamics as well as a lower drag coefficient. The Austrian brand designed the fairing with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and also tested it in the wind tunnel. The RC 390 features a larger double bubble windscreen for better wind protection at high speeds. There’s also a larger 13.7-litre metal tank to hold on to with your knees.

The RC 390 ditches the old projector headlights in favour of full-LED units. The turn signal indicators are now LED units and part of the front fairing. Other changes include new seats, a full-colour TFT display like its naked and adventure sibling and a curved radiator for better cooling. 

Powering the RC 390 GP is the same 373cc, liquid-cooled DOHC engine as the standard RC 390. The RC 390 GP makes 43.5 PS of power at 9,000 rpm and 37 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. The engine is matched to a 6-speed gearbox. Additionally, it also gets a slipper clutch with an assist function. The RC 390 GP also gets a bi-directional quickshifter as standard. Other electronic features include the Supermoto ABS and Traction Control System with Cornering ABS.

Suspension setup comprises of ‘open-cartridge type’ 43 mm WP APEX upside-down forks at the front. Meanwhile, the rear uses a WP APEX monoshock with 5-step preload adjustability. As for the braking hardware, it uses a 320 mm disc at the front with a radially-mounted 4-piston calliper at the front. On the other end, it uses a 230 mm disc with a single-piston calliper.
